How many of us run with music?
Personally, I don’t. Never have and probably never will. I’ve tried and it doesn’t work for me.
Because I can’t hear the rhythm of my feet in connection with my breath. I can’t stay connected to the experience of moving through space.
I’ve spoken to a number of runners and swimmers who say they use music to pass the time. I’m not here to judge anyone for how they chose to move their bodies, but I often ask those individuals, what it would be like for them to turn the tunes off during their next adventure?
And I also ask them why they find the experience of running or swimming so boring? And so I ask you the same thing.
What would it be like to fully immerse yourself in your next workout? What do you think you might be able to find in the “boredom” or “monotony?” Or even, what are you scared to find?
