This month’s full moon peaked at 5:51 am today! That means that a good portion of us rose with the full moon today. Although the first official day of summer isn’t until next Tuesday, it feels very much like summer! The kids are out of school, travel is in full gear, and, for many of us, we are reorganizing a new schedule, yet again. And it’s time to welcome the Strawberry SUPER FULL MOON! It’s a super moon because it’s closer to the earth and appears larger. It’s often called the strawberry moon because of the Algonquin Native American tribe in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada and refers to the ripening of berries, but is also often referred to as the Mead Moon or Honey Moon. June is a traditional wedding month and, historically, the passing on of mead/honey was a tradition for marriage gifts. Speaking of weddings, Nate and I will celebrate 18 years of marriage on the 18th! Before having kids, I thought summer meant freedom, staying up late, and endless fun. Now, it starts to stress me out as soon as we say, “Happy New Year!” It means I’ve got to reorganize my schedule and plan the most magical time for my kids… all while still working, making sure my kids aren’t on screens too much and don’t forget everything they learned this year, and then start to plan for the fall. I think a lot of other families feel this way too. My boys will be going into the 5th and 8th grades in the fall and it feels a little bit overwhelming, but I’m trying to stay cool and enjoy the ride.
