Mayhem May and the Flower Moon

May 16, 2022

How did you sleep last night? It was an important evening in the lunar calendar and there was a lot going on in the sky:

  • A full moon (the Flower Moon)

  • A total lunar eclipse (10:11pm MDT)

  • A blood moon

  • The first supermoon of the year

This month’s full blood moon coincides with a total lunar eclipse! A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth stands directly between the moon and the sun, which results in the earth casting its shadow on the moon. During a total lunar eclipse, the moon is fully obscured by the earth’s shadow, giving the moon a reddish hue. This phenomenon is where the term “blood moon” comes from.

The first supermoon of the year

This month’s full blood moon coincides with a total lunar eclipse! A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth stands directly between the moon and the sun, which results in the earth casting its shadow on the moon. During a total lunar eclipse, the moon is fully obscured by the earth’s shadow, giving the moon a reddish hue. This phenomenon is where the term “blood moon” comes from.

May’s full moon is also the first supermoon of the 2022. A supermoon is most commonly defined as any full moon that occurs when the moon is positioned at least 90% to the perigee (the point in the moon’s orbit where it is closest to earth). In 2022, there will be four supermoons.

Many people call May’s full moon the Flower Moon, after a tradition from the Algonquin tribes that lived in today’s northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. This moon’s name is meant to evoke all the flowers visible in that region at this time of year.

Different Native American tribes have their own naming conventions for the full moon, with other examples including the Corn Planting Moon (referring to the timing of planting a common crop used by some tribes) and the Milk Moon (for those with a more pastoral focus, as May is when many mammalian youngsters are born).

Why did I ask how you slept, you ask? Well, a lunar eclipse is often seen as an ending or breakthrough, and with so much going on in all of our lives, that mayhem can oftentimes disturb our rest. We are facing a full moon, Spring in full gear, the last month of school, mother’s day, graduations, and so much more. That’s the reason I call it Mayhem May! Make sure you are taking care of yourself and those around you because depending on what you have going on, last night may not have been the most restful.

Cycle Tincture: I don’t highlight this amazing tincture enough, but should. Cycle is named to help with your hormonal cycle. I created it to help balance the hormones we face monthly – the ups and downs of emotions, pain, headaches, heavy bleeding, hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping – ALL of it!

Additionally, Cycle contains herbs to help boost fertility. One of the ingredients, Vitex, has been shown to help re-establish the normal balance of estrogen and progesterone during the menstrual cycle. It also blocks prolactin secretion in women with excessive levels of this hormone; excessive levels of prolactin can lead to breast tenderness and failure to ovulate.

Take this tincture daily for 1 month, then you can take it the week before you start your period and the days of your period to help ease the unwanted and NOT NORMAL side effects of your period! We are taught that we should HATE our period, but we shouldn’t. It should be a cycle that happens with little discomfort. Take back your cycle!

Allergy Tincture: How’s the wind treating your allergies? Don’t forget about this magical tincture to eliminate all those allergy symptoms, sneezing, watery eyes, scratchy throat, sinus headache, and pressure.

Detox Tea: YES, it’s still the perfect time for the detox tea! Graduation parties plus, you know, wedding season is almost here not to mention all the travel! Get yourself back On Point with this detox tea.
